Q: I am considering a project and have questions about various types of hydronic equipment and how they compare to one another. Can I call or email you to get my questions answered?
A: You should absolutely feel free to call or email us with questions about hydronic systems. At Forge Mechanical we believe that the better informed our clients become, the better the outcome of their projects. We are always glad to share our expertise and provide additional sources of information. Check out our Resources Tab for links to product and technical information and give us a call or email.
Q: At what point should we contact you about the project we are considering?
A: Contact us at any point in the development of your project. Collaboration early in the process allows the mechanical design to be an integral part of the overall design. Early collaboration allows planning for pathways through the structure for mechanical system components. Early collaboration may not always be possible and we are skilled at applying our systems to projects that are already far along in the design process.
Q: Where can I find information on federal, state and local credits and rebates for renewable energy systems?
A: For federal programs go to: http://www.energystar.gov/taxcredits , For state programs go to: www.dsireusa.org , Contact your city government and your gas and electrical utility for additional information.
Q: What is the payback on solar thermal and/or geo-thermal water and space heating systems versus various types of natural gas powered systems?
A: We think it is helpful to refine what the consumer is trying to achieve, in order to answer this complex question. Depending on your perspective and your goals, there are many “right” answers to this question. If you are pondering this type of question we suggest you contact us and we will be happy to help you determine the right answer for your project.
Q: We have a preliminary or permit-ready set of plans. How do we get a proposal from you? Do you charge for bidding our system?
A: If you have a preliminary or permit-ready set of plans on pdf or CAD format, and intend to build within the year, we will offer you a proposal free of charge. We put a fair amount of effort into our proposals so we try to only assign hard numbers to jobs that are build ready. We are happy to supply relatively accurate ballpark numbers on projects that are still in the conceptual stage. At this point we have participated on enough projects that there is generally a similar structure that we can accurately ballpark from.
Q: Do you like what you do for a living?
A: Yes, it is satisfying to us to build and maintain durable, easy to service, high-efficiency hydronic systems for our clients.
